Another American city will soon be served by non-stop service to Seoul, South Korea. Houston, Texas will become the latest American metro area with regular flights direct to Incheon Airport when the route opens in May, operated by Korean Air and flying four days a week. Houston will be the 12th American city with regular non-stop flights and the 2nd one in Texas, joining Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Honolulu, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington, DC.

In announcing the new route, Houston’s mayor highlighted the strength of the local economy as one reason it is gaining attention globally. Texas also has the 3rd-largest Korean American population in the country, making it an attractive destination for visitors from Korea. The state already ranks highly among states where Korean tourists spend their money, and the new route is likely to increase that trend, as well as attracting new business investments from South Korean companies.
